Customs Clearance Specialist Job Specification
Requirements for the Successful Candidate:

Experience:
-
At least two years of proven success working with a small to medium-sized freight forwarder
-
Experience in processing and completing entries using CDS, specifically in deep sea ocean freight clearances or European road freight clearances
-
Skills:
-
Proficient in navigating HMRC's online tariffs (UK online trade tariff and other .Gov pages)
-
Strong understanding of customs commodity codes and procedures
-
Knowledge of Free Trade Agreements (FTA), origin, and preference regulations
-
Familiarity with CNS and Destin8 systems (CCS-UK experience is beneficial but not essential). Our forwarding software is Multi-freight

Job Responsibilities & Tasks:

Daily Operations:
-
Collaborate with a team to arrange various import clearances for key clients, ensuring prompt processing to maintain high service standards

Communicate with customers, suppliers, and sub-contractors to gather and provide necessary information for accurate and compliant customs clearances within HMRC's guidelines

Customer Guidance:
-
Offer advice to customers on importing goods into the UK, including guidance on commodity codes, customs procedures, and general requirements for the UK market

Standards and Compliance:
-
Ensure work aligns with the standards set by an AEO accredited Freight Forwarder

Financial Responsibilities:

Raise invoices, including Duty/VAT invoices
-
When required, provide manual tax calculations to customers for a clear understanding of costs incurred from HMRC
