The School
A small primary school in South Gloucestershire where Christian values are an integral part of the daily life. The school collaborates with a local church and works closely with the local community to deliver high quality education.

The Role
This is a full-time role supporting an individual child using a trauma-informed approach. The child has an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan). To be successful in this role you must have excellent behaviour management skills and high levels of patience and resilience. You will be supporting the child in class and encouraging participation in learning experiences. At other times you will provide SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) support for the child outside of the classroom.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted interventions that support SEMH needs
  • Support child in class to access teaching content and engage in lessons
  • Use trauma-informed approach to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and patient manner
  • Ensure child's safety and welfare is maintained
  • Liaise with class teacher and/or SENDCo

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience supporting SEMH development in young people
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice
  • Ability to build and maintain trusting relationships
  • Remain calm under pressure
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt according to changing needs

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience working in mainstream and/or specialist settings
  • Additional educational qualification(s)
