About FiveRivers:

FiveRivers are a widely recognised industry specialist with over 25 years' experience in the consultation, design and implementation of ecological and environmental solutions. Our specialism is delivering projects in the water environment, for example our design and build projects include wetlands creation for nutrient mitigation, natural flood management, river restoration and habitat enhancement, fish passage and easements. We're entering an exciting period of growth and are growing our Build team to deliver the fantastic opportunities we have secured.

The Role:

We are looking for Site Operatives/Labourers, who are outstanding team players, with a positive and professional attitude to join our team to undertake projects locally and nationwide. (Accommodation will be arranged and you will receive an allowance for nights spent away but you do need to be happy being away from home often during the week.)
You will be working outside, undertaking the practical, hands-on aspects of our projects.

This can include:

  • Setting up site: erect fencing and signage, placing of temporary footpaths, setting up biosecurity wash areas and bins
  • Helping with deliveries of machinery or materials, going off-site to collect smaller items/equipment
  • Observing excavations: carrying out regular depth readings user laser levels, working with the excavator operator and ensuring it is done to design
  • Removal of vegetation prior to starting this could be through physically pulling the vegetation or using a brush cutter, chainsaw etc.
  • Installing ecological enhancement features: for example, installing berms in the river channel, which may involve post-pounding, lifting large coir rolls into position, hammering coir matting onto the riverbank face.

You will be fully briefed on the project's requirements and where specific training is required on items such as chainsaw.

We have an excellent record of training and developing our Site Technicians and providing promotion opportunities both through the ranks onsite (Site Supervisor, Site Manager) and into the rest of the business (for example into the Design team) so this is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow with the business.

  • Has experience in environmental works/an interest in the environment is useful (but you will learn on the job about the different types of work we do!)
  • Is happy staying away from home during the week where necessary
