Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Class Size: Approximately 5 students
Are you an experienced HLTA looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Empowering Learning is working in partnership with a therapeutic SEMH school, a highly respected charity-led independent school, to recruit a dedicated HLTA to cover small classes of around 5 students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage small classes of students with SEMH, providing tailored support for their unique needs.
- Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons and activities, both 1:1 and in small group settings.
- Collaborate with the teaching team and school therapists to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
- Implement strategies to manage behaviour effectively and support students' emotional development.
- Act as a key support to teachers and assist with lesson planning and curriculum development.
- Foster a positive, therapeutic learning environment where students can thrive academically and emotionally.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a school with SEMH students is essential.
- Proven ability to manage small class sizes, ideally with children facing SEMH challenges.
- HLTA qualification or equivalent.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with children, parents, and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEMH.
- A flexible approach to working, with the ability to adapt to changing needs and environments.
