JOB TITLE: Rolling Stock Vehicle Builders

JOB LOCATION: Ilford, London

SHIFTS: Minimum of 50 hours a week. Overtime available.

SHIFT PATTERN: Fully flexible to support 24/7 Cover. This includes Days/ Nights & Weekends.

DURATION: On-going contract

START DATE: ASAP

Position Summary:

The role is carrying out Mechanical overhaul and maintenance. You will specifically with a focus on mechanical modifications, interior strip and replace.

Safety Critical position and is a requirement against the Service Agreement (SA). This position is the key focal point for the safe and reliable running of the fleet.

The position is based on a busy maintenance depot and all applicants would be expected to complete the following:

  • Removal of interiors and body sides
  • Rebuilding on the vehicle sides
  • Refitting, Seats, Grab Rails, Poles etc
  • Remove large components such as axle boxes, bogies ,valves and couplers
  • Work from written instruction (VMI)
  • Work from Mechanical Engineering drawings, working to specific measurements
  • Replacing mechanical components to correspond to engineering drawings
  • Routine fleet checks ensuring that the Fleet are operated safely
  • Work flexibly with a maintenance team

Person Profile:

You will be a highly self-motivated individual, able to work under your own initiative. Attitude and enthusiasm is key for this role as those that display reliability, technical ability and motivation may be asked to stay on in the long-term.

Candidates from the following background will be considered:

  • HGV Technicians
  • RAF, REME, Army, Navy
  • Plant Maintenance
  • Engineering Services Maintenance
  • Rail
  • Heavy Mechanical Engineering

Ideal applicants would have had some heavy maintenance experience and previously worked shifts. Also due to the location of the work candidates must have their own transport and be able to work days & nights which will include working at the weekend.
