Communications Officer Internal Comms

Royal Voluntary Service has an opportunity available for a Comms Officer to join our internal comms team. You will join us on a full-time permanent basis and in return you will receive a competitive salary of £25,609 - £27,306 per annum (pay award pending, 1 October, £26,505-£28,272). Homebased with occassional travel to meetings/events

About the Comms Officer role: Supporting the Comms Manager, Senior Team and workstream/project leads to facilitate effective delivery of the comms strategy and key messages to keep staff and volunteers informed of developments through several channels including; face to face events, regular email bulletins, webinars, text, magazine, printed publications and regular newsletters. Producing compelling, snappy copy and sourcing appropriate content including banners, video, infographics to engage our volunteers/supporters as well as our staff. Designing/building comms campaigns in our email platform, dotdigital. Using email marketing best practice to increase engagement of comms through testing and evaluation, analysing the impact of our e-marketing programme and providing suggestions to improve success/maximise campaign effectiveness. Managing the Virtual Coffee Meetings for staff, working with colleagues to produce content, supporting Q&As in the sessions. Segmenting data and developing a CRM strategy identifying comms journeys for volunteers/supporters. Ensuring that retail comms channels are effectively implemented, used and continuously improved to achieve high levels of employee/volunteer engagement, reporting on effectiveness. Supporting colleagues with ecomms and SMS to referrers/volunteers on the NHS and Care Volunteer Responders programme. Measuring the impact and effectiveness of our e-comms to make improvements as required. Feeding into regular reports to develop future goals. Creating/sending online surveys, evaluating and reporting results. Setting up and promoting webinars to referrers and volunteers

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

What you'll bring as our Comms Officer: A BA or equivalent qualification is required. A professional qualification from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations or the Chartered Institute of Marketing can be helpful.

Skills: This is a role which requires confident writing at pace. The post holder is required to write in a variety of styles for our different communications channels in a way that is engaging, grammatically correct and appropriate. Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programmes including: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook. Managing effective, mutually beneficial relationships with internal/external stakeholders and colleagues at all levels. Strong communication skills across all levels, internal/external. Creative thinking and problem solving. Attention to detail

Experience: At least two years working in a comms environment. Experience using an email marketing platform, i.e. dotdigital or Mailchimp.
