Senior HR Manager

We are currently working in partnership with a Not-for-profit organisation based in West London, who are recruiting for a Senior HR Manager on a fixed term contract of 2 years. The position is due to start late September, with the potential to go permanent. The annual salary for this role will be £50,000 per annum.

The ideal candidate will have experience with ED&I and change management and will establish effective working relations at all levels within the organisation. They will excel at working in partnership with business areas to further improve the HR service they offer, assuring it is in line with the needs of staff and the organisation.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing high quality support to the senior stakeholders and HR on aspects of the organisations HR function and on the provision of accurate, timely and relevant updates and reports as required by the Executive Team
  • Deputising on occasion for the senior stakeholders and HR in meetings with the Executive Team
  • Ensuring effective up-to-date HR policies and relevant other policies that meet the needs of the Trust and its staff are in place, reviewing them on an agreed schedule in line with the organisations Policy Matrix and updating as required
  • Identifying any gaps in the suite of HR policies and develop new policies to fill that gap
  • Overall maintenance of the Policy Matrix
  • Leading on the Trust's EDI policy, ensuring that the policy is implemented in a practical way throughout the organisation and in all our activities
  • Undertaking investigations into grievances raised by staff members and complaints against staff or the Trust raised by external parties.
  • Writing up reports of the findings and propose realistic recommendations for actions in light of the investigation outcome
  • Supporting the senior stakeholders and HR in delivering the actions that support preparations for the next Investors in People external assessment in late 2024
  • Ensuring the organisations HR policies and practices remain consistent with the Investors in People standard
  • Developmenting and implementation of a Cultural Competency Framework for the organisation
  • Leading on responses to HR-related Subject Access Requests
  • Working with the HR Business Partner on the running of staff recruitment and selection processes, including sitting as the HR representative on the interview panel for more senior roles

Experience required:

  • A good knowledge/understanding of the local area and community or demonstrable willingness to learn quickly
  • Experience of change management
  • Competency in use of Access Select HR and MS Office software packages

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Substantial experience of working in HR operations and of developing and reviewing appropriate HR policies and procedures in a charity or similar setting
  • Sound understanding of employment law and a willingness to keep up-to-date with relevant legislative changes
  • A passion for EDI and an ability to be creative and engaging in communications around this subject
  • Strong organisational skills and an understanding of the importance of discretion and confidentiality
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including evidence of ability to adapt to a variety of cultural settings
  • A team player, with excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to earn quickly the trust and confidence of staff and other stakeholders
  • Ability to operate effectively in a complex and fast-moving environment
  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision and to use initiative
  • An enquiring mind with the tact and confidence to undertake difficult or sensitive meetings and interviews
  • Demonstrable understanding of the needs of diverse communities and a commitment to equality of opportunity
