Visitor Experience Officer

Summary

Being a Visitor Experience Officer for the National Trust is all about people – connecting with them, inspiring them, and making sure they have the best possible day when they come to visit.

Contract: permanent, part time.

Hours: 962 hours per year. This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year.

Working pattern: The role is mainly worked during peak season and you will be required to work most weekends with at least 1 weekend off per month. You will be needed to work 4-5 days throughout July and August. The hours and days worked will differ from summer to winter.

You'll be reporting to the Visitor Operations and Experience Manager, working in a team of Visitor Experience Officers, at Springhill.

What you'll be doing

As Visitor Experience Officer, your main focus will be on providing a great service for visitors.

You will manage a team of Welcome and Service Assistants, and your core role will be welcoming people and inspiring them to really get to know Springhill. This will include supporting the Programming and Partnership Officer to run successful events and activities, and creating interpretive displays and other ways of bringing the place, and its stories, to life for everyone who comes here.

You will champion growing support through memberships and the general admissions process at Springhill. You manage the rotas for Springhill and Wellbrook and will be the main Duty Manager for both places.

You'll be sharing with others your love for your work and the place itself. You might be encouraging visitors to take a closer look at artworks or precious objects cared for by the Trust. You're likely to be checking standards of presentation on site, or helping to write for our web pages.

Who we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you're:

  • used to multiple deadlines and managing your own workload
  • skilled in organisation and planning, with a good eye for detail
  • good at talking to, and getting on with, all kinds of people
  • a hard-working and committed team player
  • comfortable with IT: Microsoft Office, as well as web and social media
  • experienced in producing interpretive materials, such as displays and exhibitions, and marketing or promotional materials
