Associate Director of Finance

We're partnering with an international NGO dedicated to alleviating poverty to find a highly skilled and passionate Associate Director of Finance to lead the finance operations globally. This critical role, more akin to a Finance Director position, that will drive strategic and operational transformation of the finance function over the next year, under the newly appointed COO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic financial leadership to support the mission and objectives advising the board and senior leadership team on financial strategy
  • Lead the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis processes to ensure effective resource allocation and financial stability.
  • Develop and implement robust financial policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with best practices.
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports, ensuring transparency and accountability to stakeholders, including the Board of Trustees.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a global finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure efficient cash flow management, oversee investments, and maintain appropriate reserves to ensure financial sustainability.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate timely and thorough audits, and strengthen internal controls to prevent fraud and ensure compliance.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and regulatory bodies, to build trust and secure financial support for the organisation's programs.
  • Drive financial innovation, exploring opportunities for cost optimisation, resource mobilisation, and new funding mechanisms.
  • Ensure all financial practices align with the values and ethical standards, promoting integrity and accountability in all financial dealings.

Qualifications:

  • Fully qualified CCAB accountant or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years of senior financial management experience, ideally within the NGO or non-profit sector.
  • Proven experience in managing complex budgets, financial forecasting, and analysis.
  • Proven experience of leading finance change initiatives
  • Strong understanding of international financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and provide sound financial advice.
