Treasury Accountant - 15 Month FTC

Treasury and cash management is key to the short and long term strategic and future planning of the organisation. The overall purpose of this job is to manage the day-to-day requirements of group loans and funding totalling in excess of £250m. The role enables robust cash management to Octavia by assisting with forecasting cash flows, ensuring adherence with Treasury Management Policy and compliance with all covenants associated with the financing.

This role also optimises the day-to-day use of liquid resources held by the group and strategically manages group assets for future funding requirements, including optimising assets pledged for security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for effective day to day cash management to ensure the best use of cash assets in line with the Treasury Policy
  • Liaise with Head of Financial Planning & Treasury, to assist with the preparation of Business Plans and Long-Term Forecasts to ensure consistency of reporting and underlying assumptions
  • Responsible for preparing regular cash flow forecasts that are accurate and complete, liaising with internal departments to ensure integrity over the numbers reported. In addition produce variance analysis, with accompanying commentary
  • Responsible for administering the all loans and investments ensuring no default occurs
  • Prepare all covenant calculations and prepare all internal and external covenant reports for review. Leading review of covenant calculations and lender compliance certificates with management
  • Ensure that all payments required under the loans are made accurately and on time
  • Responsible for securitisation of assets, identifying and managing assets to optimise amounts pledged
  • Ensure all debt financing is adequately secured, liaising with solicitors, valuers and other external/internal parties to plan and manage assets (charged and unencumbered) when necessary to ensure adequate security is in place to enable loan drawdowns when required
  • Take responsibility for finance aspects of selling properties internally, liaising with internal and external parties for the sale and ensuring all necessary paperwork is adequately prepared, approved and completed
  • Account for the Recycled Capital Grant Funds
  • Prepare any regular reporting (including: regulatory returns, bids for HLB and any other initiatives etc.) as and when necessary
  • To review current procedures in detail, recommending improvements and implementation
  • Ensure that the principle of confidentiality is applied in all aspects of the Octavia's work
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with this post

Knowledge, Experience and skills

  • Qualified accountant, or Treasury Qualification (Cert T or AMCT) or qualified by experience
  • Experience of providing financial information to external advisors and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrable experience in Treasury and managing multiple Investments and Financing in a complex group structure
  • Ability to strategically review processes and coordinate improvements
  • Excellent analytical and reconciliation skills, with the ability to critically analyse and challenge the status quo
  • Preparation of schedules in support of year end statutory financial statements and disclosures in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice and/or FRS 102
  • Experience in influencing senior management
  • Ability to work with other departments to ensure desired result is achieved
