PCBA Test Engineer (9 months)

Summary

To drive our ambitious growth plans whilst maintaining our high standard of quality products we require a PCBA Test Engineer for a 9 month term.

The PCBA Test Engineer will help support and strengthen our supply chain to transition over to new/additional partnerships with world class suppliers.

The PCBA Test Engineer will report into the Head of Manufacturing, but day to day supervision and guidance will come from the Senior Test Development Engineer. The role involves maintaining and continually improving PCBA test equipment and fixtures, identifying & root-causing issues and putting effective counter-measures in place in a timely manner. The Test Engineer will also be a key driver for the evaluation and sign-off of new boards. This will involve liaising with both suppliers and our Supply Chain Team and encompassing regular supplier visits.

The successful candidate will have a solid background in PCBA manufacture and have good general software understanding. LabVIEW and TestStand experience are essential. Knowledge of WATS or other test data analysis tools is desirable (but not essential) with training provided as required. It would help to have some basic mechanical skills as the Test Engineer may also be required to support the production lines where necessary.

Main Tasks:

  • Support the Senior Test Development Engineer
  • Liaise with both PCBA suppliers and internal supply chain WRT PCBA testing equipment (including occasional supplier visits)
  • Monitor tests failures, diagnose and drive countermeasures
  • Update test specs, test limits and test software
  • Support transition to new suppliers, the evaluation of sample boards & final sign-off
  • Maintain and update testing equipment and fixtures
  • Produce requirements for test equipment suppliers
  • Report writing
  • Support the production processes as required
  • Continuous improvement of testing & production processes
  • Support periodic equipment calibration and checks

Key Skills

  • PCBA manufacturing experience
  • Good test software skills
  • Experience updating LabVIEW and TestStand software
  • Preferred experience with WATS or other test data analysis tools
  • Use of TeamViewer, Jira, Confluence and Teams
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Able to interpret & analyze data and produce clear, concise reports
  • Able to communicate at all levels
  • Time focused
  • Current UK driving licence

The ideal candidate is required for a term of 9 months paying £30 per hour.

Working hours are Monday-Thursday 7.30am-4.30pm Friday 7.30am-12.30pm total 39 hour week.
