A vacancy has arisen for a lawyer to join the Sales & Trading Advisory team in London, which provides legal advice and support to the Rates, Foreign Exchange (FX), Credit, Emerging Markets, Listed & Clearing and other business lines within the Investment Bank. The focus of this role will be primarily on support for the Metals Business within the Foreign Exchange (FX) Business (covering both precious and base metals). Other Iinternal clients include a variety of sales, trading and structuring desks, as well as senior management, compliance and colleagues in other functions.

Your key responsibilities

  • Drafting and negotiating a variety of agreements related to commodity and bullion trading, finance, transport, custody and settlement agreements with external clients and service providers from a wide range of jurisdictions
  • Working for the FX business including in the context of FX Derivatives, Deal Contingent Transactions, FX Prime Brokerage, Electronic Trading, Trading Venues/Platforms and FX trading more generally
  • Advising on Listed Derivatives and Clearing Activity (particularly in the context of commodity futures and options)
  • Supporting other commodities desks outside of FX engaging in business in Emissions Allowances, Natural Gas and Oil related products
  • Advising on other business and products within our fixed income and currencies business lines;
  • Preparing or seeking regulatory advice with respect to all of the above areas (with a focus on commodities and FX)

Your skills and experience

  • Qualified lawyer, with solid post-qualification experience
  • Experience of commodities and derivatives documentation in either private practice or in-house
  • A good quality academic and vocational training
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent legal analytical skills and problem-solving ability
  • A collegiate approach to progressing matters
