Chief Mechanical Inspector

Chief Inspector - Are you a seasoned quality professional with experience in aerospace manufacturing? Do you thrive in a role that combines technical expertise, leadership, and problem-solving skills? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! As the Chief Inspector, you'll play a pivotal role in managing and controlling this Inspection Department.

This hands on role will involve the first off, stage and final manual inspection of Aerospace sheet metal parts and assemblies to AS9102 standards. You will work closely with the quality engineers to manage quality related issues, using your experience to effectively liaise with external and internal customers handling reject and complaint situations. You will also mentor junior staff ensuring training is maintained across the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and Assist: Lead the Inspection team, ensuring they perform at their best.
  • Compliance Champion: Ensure strict adherence to inspection procedures.
  • Reports and FAIRs: Produce accurate inspection reports and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
  • Quality Control: Manage non-conformity's and Material Review Board (MRB) activities swiftly and effectively.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Handle complaints, rejects, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Inventory Oversight: Continuously monitor and review Quarantine Stores contents.
  • Record Keeping: Keep relevant records up-to-date.
  • Training: Provide necessary training to staff.
  • Collaboration: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Auditing: Coordinate with auditors for facility audits.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive enhancements in inspection processes.
  • Certifications: Sign Certificates of Conformance (C of C's) and EASA Form 1's.
  • Cleanliness and Order: Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Special Tasks: Undertake assignments as directed by senior management.

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Technical Background: Previous experience in aerospace manufacturing is essential.
  • Similar Role: Prior experience in a similar role is highly valued.
  • Problem-Solving: Proficient in problem-solving techniques.
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using PCs and related software.
  • Effective Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Results-Driven: Focused on achieving quality outcomes.
