DevOps Engineer Bristol (Hybrid, Flexible - 1 day a week in the office)

£600 - £650 a day Outside IR35

We are working in partnership with a well-known firm in Bristol to hire a DevOps Engineer - you will play a crucial role in enhancing their development processes, ensuring efficient and reliable software delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and continuous deployment of our applications.
  • Collaborate with full stack software developers to containerize applications, including backend, frontend and components.
  • Utilize Kubernetes for container orchestration and management, ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability of our applications.
  • Implement and maintain software version control systems, ensuring best practices in code management and collaboration.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot application performance and infrastructure issues, ensuring quick resolution and minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features and improvements.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies to continuously enhance our DevOps practices.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role, with a strong emphasis on Python software development.
  • Extensive experience in the telecom industry is highly beneficial.
  • Expertise in containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, CircleCI, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of software version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior team members.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as VMware, OpenStack, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Knowledge of network protocols and telecom systems.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or similar.
  • Understanding of security best practices in a DevOps environment.
