What it's like to work here

Working within the Welcome and Service team at Dyrham Park, you will support the portfolio Welcome Manager to ensure that a high standard of customer service is given at all times and support the day to day running of visitor reception. You will work back to back with another Welcome and Service Assistant Manager, and each are encouraged to take responsibilities in their own areas of interest for personal development. The team at reception has 13 staff and 20 volunteers overall, and is part of the wider Visitor Experience team across the Bath portfolio, with a small welcome team at Prior Park Landscape Garden, an events team based in the office at Dyrham Park, and an welcome and events team at Bath Assembly Rooms.

Dyrham Park is a busy and vibrant place to work, close to Bath and the M4. Visitor Reception is in the car park on the edge of the deer park, about 1km from the 17th century house and garden. A newly returned herd of fallow deer roams the parkland, with visitors able to join guided walks from reception out into the parkland. The house and garden are baroque in style, designed and built at the end of the 1600s. A seasonal calendar of events takes place across the house, park, and garden with occasional scene-setting displays at visitor reception.

What you'll be doing

You will have a mix of front of house and office based days. Undertaking behind-the-scenes administrative tasks such as reporting our membership and fundraising sales to the central team, and working with the Welcome Manager to develop the team of Welcome and Service Assistants. There is opportunity to be the line manager for the welcome volunteer team who help provide a great welcome, this includes recruiting and training new volunteers, ensuring a great experience throughout their volunteering time, and managing rotas.

When front of house you will lead by example, motivating the team to welcome visitors to the highest standard and growing support for the National Trust as a charity through membership and Gift Aid sales.
