We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Underwriter on behalf of our client, one of the leading brands in the UK insurance market.
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating renewal terms, ensuring retention of customers on the best possible terms, and cross-selling new products to the company's existing customer base.
The role will provide a wide range of development opportunities and exposure to the company's products, underwriting platform, and underwriting strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwriting new/existing business across the Commercial products lines, working across the company's broker distribution channels and Commercial Insurance products.
- Working towards set targets each month, including profitability, GWP and conversion.
- Developing your sales skills and appreciation of sales and underwriting strategy, in collaboration with the wider teams and regions.
- Effectively negotiating with both internal and external parties, and identifying points of contact within brokers.
- Challenging non-standard underwriting decisions, utilising the expertise of product specialists and senior members of the team.
- Showing courage and innovation by spotting opportunities for process improvements and how the company can do things differently, in order to improve the customer experience and drive profitable growth.
Key Requirements
- Candidates must have either previous experience of working in an underwriting environment, or come from a commercial insurance broker background with a desire to move into underwriting.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Willingness to begin ACII studies.
