Transport Manager

We are recruiting for one of the largest European relocation specialists in the UK. Their reach is unparalleled with an estimated 260 trips departing by road on an annual basis. They are also specialists in relocation by shipping and air and make seemingly impossible tasks a reality for their clients.

They are now looking to speak to experienced Transport Managers who have their International CPC and are experts in crew allocation, route planning, job scheduling and man management.

Duties will include:

  • Ensure all vehicles and employee records are properly maintained making full use of fleet check with accurate record keeping.
  • Oversee planned maintenance of machinery and equipment including tail lifts and booking LOLERS as required.
  • Morning and afternoon vehicle inspections.
  • Ensure all daily vehicle defects are carried out and uploaded.
  • Download vehicle and driver cards.
  • Arrange repairs and routine vehicle maintenance, MOT's legal compliance. Liaise with UK and European operations manager.
  • Ensure that all drivers and operators have the correct up-to-date qualifications and driver assessments have taken place.
  • Operator's licence holder. Understand and meet the companies operating licence obligations, ensuring appropriate controls and procedures are rigorously enforced.
  • Prepare legal packs for European trips.
  • Manage fuel/Toll cards and ensure employees are fully aware of the countries these are accepted in.
  • Ensure appropriate management information is in place for optimal management of the driver fleet and driver infringement analysis. Report any anomalies to the Directors.
  • Monitor use of all Tolls, including Dart Tag and Eurotunnel. Review associated costs.
  • Work with the warehouse team and other stakeholders to ensure timely completion of all administrative processes.
  • Maintain an excellent working knowledge of and work proactively in accordance with all current and anticipated legislative requirements and best practice relevant to the transport industry.
  • Robust challenge of all PCN's and incorrect charges. Advise accounts where employee deductions are required.
  • Managing UK crews time sheets. This will also include any necessary bonus deductions and recognising and actioning any wrongdoings, negligence or processes not being followed by our crew. Anomalies
  • Assisting with and or managing recruitment of new staff. Including setting them up on systems, taking them through any relevant training, processing new starter forms and ensuring they are allocated appropriately
  • Managing the booking of new jobs, scheduling vehicles and crews in an efficient manner to ensure maximum productivity is being achieved.
  • Part of crew management entails identifying and highlighting any additional crates/specialised materials that are needed. These must be ready for each job and taken with the crew, ideally with the crew made specifically aware.
