Management Accountant - Part Time

Based: Ambleside

Salary: circa £40k dependent on experience plus benefits

Opportunity:

You will play a key role in overseeing the accounting function and financial procedures. Preparing management accounts, forecasts and budgets. Responsible for ensuring compliance with legal, accounting, regulatory and taxation obligations

Role:

  • Leads the budget preparation working closely with colleagues to produce a budget that aligns to organisational business plans and is supported by clear and transparent communication that meets the needs of non-finance colleagues.
  • Produces monthly management accounts, forecast outturns and cash flow forecasts.
  • Proactively interrogates financial information, meeting regularly with budget holders to discuss income and expenditure, and reporting on key findings.
  • Prepares the statutory accounts and reports in conjunction with Finance Officers, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
  • Manages the payroll, ensuring employees are paid appropriately and benefits are appropriately managed and reported on.
  • Works with the Assistant Heads of Children and Young People on contract budgets and submits program returns where required.
  • Assists People Development consultants with contract pricing.
  • Assists the Fundraising Manager with information for funding bids.
  • Prepares useful analysis to Senior Leaders and other managers to aid decision making.

Experience:

  • Experience of managing financial ledgers, systems and processes
  • Experience of preparing management accounts and budgets
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel, and the ability to manage large amounts of data.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial information in a clear way
  • Professionalism and commitment
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to work with colleagues at all levels, including non-finance members of staff
  • Self-motivated, with a drive to find improvements and efficiencies
