We are seeking a Building Surveyor to join our Building Services Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for civil buildings response maintenance work, planned programmes, and capital works under the direction of the Building Services Manager. This role involves leading multi-disciplinary design teams to deliver construction, improvement, and refurbishment projects from feasibility to completion, as well as conducting a range of surveys and contributing to the annual Building Maintenance Programme. Please note the work is for civil buildings and NOT residential housing / properties.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Lead and direct multi-disciplinary design teams for various construction projects.
  • Carry out and commission surveys, ensuring services meet the standards described in Service Level Agreements.
  • Technically assess response repair requests, issue orders to contractors, and monitor work quality and progress.
  • Prepare specifications, tender documentation, and contract drawings using computer-aided design packages.
  • Act as Contract Administrator, managing all project aspects from planning to final completion.
  • Liaise with Council officers, school managers, and external agencies to ensure orderly and timely completion of works.
  • Manage financial resources, including budget setting and accounting for expenditure.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, Health and Safety Legislation, and internal and external procurement laws.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualification in Building Surveying or a related field.
  • Experience in leading and directing construction projects.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design software.
  • Strong understanding of contract administration and project management.
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations, Health and Safety Legislation, and procurement laws.
  • Excellent communication and liaison skills to work with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage financial resources and contribute to budget setting.
