About the role

We're expanding our Performance & Reward Team and have an exciting opportunity for a Reward Consultant. This role will have a strong focus on our Performance Management framework and process. As part of the Performance & Reward Team at HL, you will lead, or be involved in, exciting performance and reward (incentive plans, cash compensation) projects. You will use your strong communication, consulting, analytical skills and knowledge by developing a diverse and inclusive culture where colleagues are engaged, empowered and work together to live our values. You will also provide insight and analysis to support the delivery of key reward projects, including those as part of the annual Reward cycle. Training will be provided to candidates from a non-Reward background.

What you'll be doing

  • Plan and lead complex technical reward activities within the annual cycles for pay and performance

  • Lead on performance management matters: by supporting on shaping the performance approach, leading on the implementation & embedding activities and on continuous engagement of all stakeholders

  • Provide advice, recommendations and expertise for:

  • Compensation plans design and roll-out

  • Job architecture, pay structures and career progression

  • Lead on the role sizing approach

  • Provide detailed insight and analysis to key annual reward related activities, influencing reward strategy, policy and procedure

  • Support on preparing papers for relevant committees as SME

  • Collaborate with the People Team and other internal stakeholders to agree solutions/outcomes and maintain consistent adherence to policy and procedures

  • Plan and deliver Performance and Reward MI requirements

  • Lead activities relating to legislative and regulatory pay reporting requirements, such as Gender Pay Gap, including required regulatory tracking

  • Implement system (Workday) changes and processes as required, including roll-out to business / HR users

  • Provide technical advice / solutions to compensation/equity/executive matters

  • Deliver insight and advice to support continuous improvement and management within risk and controls framework

  • Work with external providers to gather market intelligence (market benchmarking data, trends and horizon scanning) to help inform the annual activity cycles.

About you

Experience in a Senior Advisor or Consultant role in Performance & Reward or HR is expected, and we are also keen to meet people who have the following skills:

  • Advanced Excel including knowledge and use of: VLOOKUP's, pivot tables, IF statements. Macro-coding will also be beneficial.
  • Experience of working with large sets of data (1000s) and applying manipulation techniques.
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and summarise data succinctly to senior stakeholders and clients.
  • An effective and engaging communicator, able to present complex information in simple context, adapting your style to suit your audience
  • Ability to manage and prioritise conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Skilled using careful judgement, utilise differing perspectives, resolve complicated issues.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively collaborate to achieve common goals plus the ability to self-manage competing workloads & effectively prioritise
  • Desirable experience of using Workday and Willis Tower Watson
  • A relevant qualification will also be beneficial (i.e. CIPD)

2 stages including a presentation.

Working Schedule

Based in our Bristol head office, BS1 5HL. This role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday however we can consider part time candidates with a minimum of 30 hours per week. We have returned to the office, however for this role we offer a hybrid flexible working pattern of working in the office and at home.
