Maintenance Engineer

The role entails ensuring customer demands (both internal and external) are met, quality standards are upheld, and labour efficiencies are maximised within a safe working environment. As a key member of the Engineering Team, the successful candidate will actively engage in daily machine maintenance whilst promoting continuous improvement in collaboration with the Engineering Department, Production Managers, Supervisors, Team Leaders, and Procurement.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Respond to and promptly close out repair tickets.
  • Perform efficient maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery.
  • Maintain machinery and equipment to the highest standards.
  • Replace and reorder parts used from stock to ensure uptime.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety protocols, including housekeeping and working practices.
  • Prioritise the repair of critical equipment based on production needs and maintain effective communication.
  • Minimise downtime and maximise machine run rates through efficient use of machinery.
  • Keep accurate maintenance and repair records.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement measures.
  • Ensure all work aligns with company Health & Safety Policies.
  • Collaborate with Production to ensure overall business success.
  • Encourage collaborative practices within the Harrier framework.
  • Support the Engineering team in the Prague facility to ensure smooth site operations.

Skills & Qualifications
Education:

  • GCSEs (A-C) in Maths, English, and Science, or equivalent (Essential)
  • Higher Level Education or comparable experience (Essential)
  • Health & Safety qualification (Desirable)
  • City & Guilds Level 2 (Desirable)
  • 17th/18th Edition Wiring Regulations (Desirable)
  • HNC/ONC (Desirable)

Key Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel (Essential)
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and tools (Essential)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Essential)
  • Awareness of Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation and best practices (Essential)
  • Analytical approach to understanding data (Essential)
  • Strong knowledge of production processes (Essential)
  • Proficient in electrical and mechanical maintenance and fault finding (Essential)
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD (Desirable)
  • Experience with IOSH and risk assessment evaluations (Desirable)
  • Familiarity with digital photographic equipment (Desirable)

Working Hours:
8.5 hour days (Mon to Fri) then after a couple of months your normal shift pattern will be working 10 hour shifts 4 days per week, which will mainly be Sundays to Thursdays.
