Gleeson Recruitment Group are working exclusively in partnership with a highly acquisitive business in Nottinghamshire, who are looking to appoint a Group Accountant in a newly-created position.
This person will oversee the accurate and timely preparation of financial reports and statements. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining financial integrity, and providing insightful analysis to support decision-making. Key responsibilities for the Group Accountant role:
- Lead the technical accounting function, including researching and interpreting complex accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS) and assessing their impact on financial reporting and business operations.
- Provide guidance and support on accounting treatment for significant transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, investments, and divestitures.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and ensure timely adoption across the organisation.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to assess the accounting implications of new business initiatives and strategic projects.
- Review financial statements and disclosures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards.
- Support external audits and regulatory examinations by providing technical accounting expertise and documentation.
Qualifications and requirements of the position:
- Must be either ACA or ACCA qualified
- Proven experience in technical accounting
- Strong understanding of IFRS16, with the ability to apply technical accounting principles to complex business transactions.
- Experience with private equity-backed companies and familiarity with relevant accounting issues and considerations.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to research and interpret accounting guidance effectively.
- Proven ability to communicate complex accounting concepts clearly and concisely to non-accounting stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams.
