Pay Rate: £21.67 - £23.50 PAYE / £26.98 - £29 Umbrella
Job Type: Temporary (3-month contract with potential to extend)
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days from home)

Oxford City Council is looking for a dedicated Tenancy Management Officer to provide exceptional service in the management of tenancies and voids. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of Council-owned residential properties and delivering customer-focused solutions to our community.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Serve as the primary contact for members, tenants, and other Council services regarding Council-owned residential properties.
  • Deliver comprehensive services related to void and tenancy management, including conducting transfer and welcome visits, processing tenancy changes and terminations, and enforcing tenancy conditions.
  • Collaborate with external support providers and coordinate the activities of other Council services to maintain property and grounds, ensure health and safety, and promote customer involvement.
  • Manage tenancy-related requests such as succession, assignment, mutual exchange, and property reallocation, applying knowledge of housing legislation
  • Enforce tenancy conditions by preparing and serving legal notices and coordinating with legal services for court proceedings.
  • Act as the Council's main witness in tenancy-related court cases and coordinate evictions with the bailiff and police when necessary.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in tenancy management or a similar role.
  • Experience working for a local authority or registered provider in a housing management environment,
  • Strong understanding of housing legislation and tenancy agreements.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on quality and efficiency.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders, including tenants, council members, and external agencies.
  • Competence in managing legal processes related to tenancy enforcement.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
