My client is a world leader in the development of specialist high performance specialist food processing solutions and is extremely well established with 150 years' experience in their chosen field of expertise. This highly respected manufacturer is looking to expand its software engineering capacity and is adding to the engineering knowledge already within their current team. The group supplies products into a wide range of industries with a reputation for product quality and reliability.

  • Experience of Managing Projects from Concept to Completion
  • Understanding of PLC Systems & HMI/SCADA Applications
  • Ideally HNC/HND Qualified

The Role

Software engineers will report directly to the Controls and Automation Manager and will not be responsible for the management of any staff. Good timekeeping is expected along with efficient time management of projects and work. Any project work must be backed up to the server on a regular basis with good housekeeping of files and versions.

  • Software design & development for control systems including but not limited to - PLCs, field devices, HMIs. Typically having the ability to program from scratch on some of the following manufacturers Beijer HMIs, Mitsubishi, Siemens, Allen Bradley and Omron PLCs, HMIs and drives.
  • Optimisation of existing software and HMI design through the correct channels and processes.
  • Assisting with software design & development for recipe management and production reports such as integrating PLC systems with office based applications.
  • Modification of existing systems on previous projects.
  • Full electrical commissioning of all developed systems on premises and on site.
  • Rectification of electrical problems and modify panels to meet changes in requirements.
  • Involvement in control design meetings may that be with customers and/or internal departments.
  • Writing of control specification documents, such as testing schedules and operator manuals.
  • Completion of required paperwork for each project/task that has been undertaken.
  • Reading and understanding of electrical schematics and piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Hardware integration - building & testing above hardware and inter-device/HMI communications.
