In this crucial position, the successful candidate will be entrusted with the responsibility of setting tools in presses and initiating their start-up, aligning with stringent production requirements. The role demands a vigilant approach to the safe operation of Injection Moulding Presses, including their start-up and shutdown.
Preparation of tools and equipment for tool changes is a key aspect of this role, as is the proficient use of cranes for slinging and lifting tools. The role extends to presenting the first-off part to the Quality Department, ensuring adherence to Quality and Standard Operating Procedures, and setting up robot heads and loading programmes.
The individual will be the first point of contact for reporting faults to the tool-room or maintenance teams, in accordance with company protocols. The meticulous completion of job packs before and during tool changes, accurate recording of deviations, and proactive troubleshooting are all part of this dynamic role.
Candidates will be expected to contribute to process improvements under the guidance of the Process Engineer or Lead Setter. The role encompasses a range of responsibilities, including safety checks, housekeeping around machine areas, and specified routine maintenance checks, with a constant awareness of the safety of fellow employees.
Engagement in SMED activities, working towards and reporting on KPI targets/results related to Tool Change times and OEE data, performing colour changes, and undertaking additional projects or tasks as assigned by the management team are also integral to this position.
The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in a similar role, with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. A keen eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential. Experience with Injection Moulding Presses and relevant safety training is highly desirable.
