Employee Relations Manager

The Role:

Are you passionate about fostering a positive work environment and driving employee relations excellence? We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Manager to lead our MyER Team. In this pivotal role, you will manage ER across the business, collaborate with key stakeholders, and provide expert, consistent advice. As the go-to person for complex cases, you will support various types of ER cases, contribute to policy development, and coach and develop our leaders. Key Responsibilities:

  • Day to day team management, development and coaching of the ER Advisors.
  • Act as a point of escalation for the ER Advisors and leaders on advice, appeals and more complex ER matters.
  • Proactively maintain and apply current knowledge of employment law, policies and practices to manage ER cases from advice, investigation, support meetings, documentation through to providing commercial recommendations and solutions, whilst balancing risk to the business.
  • Maintain and monitor the ER case tracker to ensure ER cases are dealt with in a timely manner, while also looking for opportunities to improve experience and efficiency.
  • Build an effective and collaborative partnership with stakeholders across HR and the wider business.
  • Responsible for managing responses to ACAS and Employment Tribunals, co-ordinating and collating materials and liaising with external solicitors helping to minimise company exposure.
  • Design and deliver training on ER topics to upskill line managers across the organisation.
  • Support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy and ensure alignment through ER best practice

Location: We operate on a hybrid basis with 2-3 days per week required at our Nuneaton Hub

The Person:

Key Requirements:

  • CIPD Level 7 with previous experience working in employee relations, case management and policy focused role, including excellent knowledge of employment law and practical application providing commercial solutions.
  • Experience of working at management/leadership level.
  • Previous experience of training, coaching and developing HR and business stakeholders on ER matters.
  • Experience of conducting complete reviews of policies, practices, and terms and conditions, effective problem solving and successful implementation
  • A good understanding of employment law across the ROI is desirable.
  • Proven stakeholder management experience as a commercial, credible and assertive subject matter expert with ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience of portraying complex issues and problem-solving initiatives in a straight forward and friendly format.
  • Able to juggle multiple competing priorities.
