About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated Test Engineer to be an integral part of the Consumer Technology Group ensuring product quality. Responsible for testing Web, Mobile and Wearables Applications in addition to our E-Commerce platform, Ordnance Survey Test Engineers are closely embedded with third-party and internal Agile software development teams, collaborating to identify testing requirements for new feature and regression testing as part of manual and automated UAT process. In the role, you should expect approx. 60/40 split between automated and manual testing, and to be doing the following:

  • Define and implement End-to-End Test Automation to support cross-platform UAT activities (Web, Mobile, Wearables, E-Commerce)
  • Execute manual release testing where required
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative team to expand upon existing unit and integration testing in the UAT phase of testing.
  • Manage and maintain existing automation suites using Webdriver.io with JavaScript
  • Be a point of contact for test automation, including assisting colleagues in the execution, maintenance and debugging of existing test suites
  • Participate in retrospectives and sprint planning
  • Maintain and improve current skillset by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment

What we're looking for

If you are interested in joining a team that lies at the heart of what OS is about, we are looking for someone that can demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Quick learner who is keen to develop understanding of new technologies
  • Previous experience in test automation
  • Proficient in of JavaScript, Python, Cypress, Selenium or similar industry-standard languages/libraries
  • Experience working in an Agile methodology; raising and tracking defects in ADO, JIRA or similar tool
  • Experience using source control systems, for example Github
  • ISTQB Foundation certification or recognised equivalent
  • E-Commerce or Geospatial experience advantageous
  • Some experience in mentoring colleagues on coding best practice would be nice to have

This role is full time 37 hours, however, part time applicants looking for a minimum of 30 hours will be considered.

Location: We embrace a hybrid working model at OS and understand there is no one size fits all in relation to how we work. We have a fantastic HQ in Southampton, Hampshire where you will be required to come into for occasional workshops or heads together meeting, with the remaining time being a personal choice as to whether you work from home or spend more time at OSHQ.
