About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the commercial finance team in Boots Opticians, reporting into the Head of Finance – Commercial & Operations.

You will focus on providing financial support and cross-functional business partnering with senior stakeholders to deliver the Boots Opticians transformation agenda.

Shaping and influencing decision-making, alongside appraising large-scale business change activity. Ensuring all business decisions are commercially focused by applying relevant business experience (3-5 years), insight and appropriate challenge and influence.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide robust financial support on strategic, cross functional initiatives (3-5 year outlook) to shape the future business direction. Support will cover multiple functions including commercial, retail and I.T teams, alongside third parties.
  • Develop strong, meaningful relationships with senior individuals within the leadership team, aiding and challenging decision-making, with a focus on being able to deliver cross-functional alignment through strong influencing skills.
  • Financial approval of large-scale, multi-year business/investment/programme decisions and guiding the Opticians Leadership Team through a review of appropriate business cases and subsequent sign-off.
  • Delivering a schedule of post-investment appraisal and project tracking to understand performance vs. business case. Challenging the business to course correct where relevant and holding senior leaders to account where underperformance exists.
  • Ensure overall transformation programme represents a balance of near term/long-term deliverables and closely aligns to the businesses risk appetite.

What you'll need to have

  • Experienced, qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with more than three years relative post qualification experience, ideally within commercial retail or FMCG roles with emphasis on managing and influencing multiple senior stakeholders to work to common goals.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building and people leadership skills, in order to inspire, effect change and drive successful processes and performance. Individual required to thrive in a matrix-type role and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, understanding the bigger picture whilst having good attention to detail. Understanding of investment appraisal methodologies and experience putting these into practice.
  • Passionate and resilient, with ability to manage change, multiple priorities and perform effectively under pressure.

Our benefits

  • Boots Retirement Savings Plan
  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • Generous employee discounts
  • Enhanced maternity/paternity/adoption leave pay and gift card for anyone expecting or adopting a child
  • Flexible benefits scheme including holiday buying, discounted gym membership, life assurance, activity passes and more.
