As a Health and Safety Technical Officer, you will work with a team of professionals dedicated to creating a safe and healthy working environment for a Local Authority based in South East London. You will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organisation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting risk assessments and implementing effective control measures to minimise hazards
  • Carrying out DSE assessments and providing recommendations for ergonomic improvements
  • Developing and delivering engaging health and safety training programmes to employees
  • Investigating accidents and incidents, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions
  • Keeping up to date with changes in health and safety legislation and advising on relevant updates
  • Collaborating with various departments to implement and improve health and safety policies and procedures
  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of health and safety management systems
  • Conducting regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety standards
  • Providing advice and support to managers and employees on health and safety matters

Skills and qualifications:

  • Solid knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practises
  • Experience conducting DSE assessments and implementing ergonomic solutions
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver engaging training programmes
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to risk management
  • Relevant certification or qualification in health and safety
