As a Health and Safety Technical Officer, you will work with a team of professionals dedicated to creating a safe and healthy working environment for a Local Authority based in South East London. You will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organisation.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting risk assessments and implementing effective control measures to minimise hazards
- Carrying out DSE assessments and providing recommendations for ergonomic improvements
- Developing and delivering engaging health and safety training programmes to employees
- Investigating accidents and incidents, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions
- Keeping up to date with changes in health and safety legislation and advising on relevant updates
- Collaborating with various departments to implement and improve health and safety policies and procedures
- Assisting with the development and maintenance of health and safety management systems
- Conducting regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety standards
- Providing advice and support to managers and employees on health and safety matters
Skills and qualifications:
- Solid knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practises
- Experience conducting DSE assessments and implementing ergonomic solutions
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver engaging training programmes
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to risk management
- Relevant certification or qualification in health and safety
