RM Recruit are working in collaboration with a Staffordshire based Multi Academy Trust to recruit a Head of Financial Control for their team. Our client a sizable trust that has seen consistent growth to reach a family of 20 + academies. The Head of Financial Control holds the key remit to lead in the preparation, control and reporting of all Financial Accounting activities for the Trust.
Your remit will include, but not be limited to:
- Ensuring all financial accounting activities are in line the Academy Trust Handbook guidelines and compliant against all relevant financial reporting standards
- Overall balance sheet management in relation to compliance and financial control
- Monthly cashflow management, including spend recommendations, income management reporting and forecasting & control
- Oversight of BACS payments and bank reconciliations carries out by the team
- Ownership for the compilation and filing of VAT returns and Fixed Asset Management/Reporting
- Liaison with internal and external audit teams and demonstrating compliance against accounting policies and procedures, both external and internal
- Responsible for all relevant liaison with non-finance and educational departments
- Supporting the budget and forecast setting and management via proactive collaboration with other senior finance team members
- Project management of data migration for the planned implementation of Sage Intacct particularly around supplier/customer accountants and data cleansing
- Ensuring the integrity of all inbound financial data from other systems and platforms inputted into Sage
- Continually working towards delivery of improved accurate monthly reporting with a particular focus of greater financial control
- Overseeing a team of 8 team members to include 1-2-1 management and career development
The successful candidate must be fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/ACMA) or due to achieve qualified status by the end of 2024. Unfortunately we are unable to consider those qualified by experience or who have lapsed in their studies. Academy Trust sector experience is desirable but not essential. Whatever your sector background you will be able to demonstrate proven financial and technical accounting experience in a complex business environment.
This role will operate on a hybrid working model.
