Case Worker - Independent Living Service

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Council are looking to recruit a Case Worker - Independent Living Serviceto join ourteam based in Ipswich. You will be working on a full time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will earn a competitive salary of £29,269 - £33,945 per annum (pro rata for part time).

Full time, part time and job share opportunities will be considered.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a Case Worker to join our fantastic Independent Living Service delivering Disabled Facility and Minor Adaptation Grants.

We need someone who shares our values, commitment and motivation to make a difference for our customers in the districts.

About the role

  • You will be a specialist for both councils and undertake an important role in the delivery of Disabled Facility and Minor Adaptation Grants.
  • The role will include carrying out means tests, providing support with the application process, checking quotes, providing financial advice, and looking at charitable fund raising when needed.
  • From time to time, you may need to visit customers at home where additional support is required.
  • As case worker, you will become the main point of contact for grant applicants during the application stage of the grant, providing high levels of support, advice, and knowledge throughout the process.

About you

  • The ideal candidate will have gained NVQ Level 4 or an equivalent qualification or be able to demonstrate relevant experience in supporting vulnerable groups.
  • You will hold relevant up to date skills for means testing and recent experience in a similar role would be a benefit.
  • A knowledge and understanding of Disabled Facility Grants would be beneficial, applicants without this would need to have the desire to undertake training in this area.
  • You will need strong administration and organisational skills and the ability to manage your own case load, as well as provide support to the rest of the team, as and when required.
  • You will need to be able to prioritise work and demands placed upon you as you deliver a high-quality customer focused service.
  • The role will require travel to customers' homes. A full driver's license and use of own car is essential.
