Mechanical Engineering Tutor

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic mechanical engineering tutor/assessor to join their team based in Oldham.

The role will involve delivery mandatory qualifications to our level 3 engineering apprentices.

The Standards we currently offer are: Machining Technician, Engineering Technician (Toolmaker & Tool Die Maintenance Technician), Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician, Engineering Design & Draughtsperson and Engineering Fitter.

Reporting to the General Manager, the tutor will be responsible for teaching and assessing apprentices in the training centre and in their place of work, and also preparing them for end-point assessment.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare teaching resources and deliver training sessions on knowledge and skills in mechanical engineering
  2. Making sure your classroom is a safe place and you are promoting the fundamental British Values
  3. Visit employers to carry out reviews with the apprentices
  4. Be responsible for a caseload of learners, recording progress and achievement and preparing them for EPA
  5. Complete sign ups with new apprentices and their employer
  6. Attend meetings with employers and other stakeholders to discuss apprenticeship opportunities
  7. Take part in recruitment activities such as careers events and engineering taster sessions
  8. Follow IQA procedures

Essential qualifications and experience

  • Nationally recognised qualification and occupational competence in mechanical engineering
  • Driving licence
  • A1 Assessing Award or Equivalent
  • V1 Internal Quality Assurance Award or Equivalent
  • Recognised qualification forteaching in the Further Education sector
  • To be confident in using IT systems and processes
  • To demonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills
