Process Scientist- United Utilities Cumbria Region.

Working across the region, Process Scientists have responsibility for providing data and critical information that will help to influence key decision making.

Visiting our Waste Water Treatment sites, we require career-minded staff, to be involved in the collection and distribution on chemical samples across the Cumbria region .

Locations: Cumbria WWTW Sites

Length of contract: 6 months rolling (opportunities to move into to a perm role)

Hourly rate: £21.98 PAYE OR - £27.38 Umbrella

Details of the role:

Ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with health and safety legislation and UU safety policies to prevent accidents and reduce H&S incidents.

Providing scientific, process and technical support to the Process Technology Team (PTT).

Development and delivery of appropriate site-specific projects and pilot plant studies to ensure that required outputs are delivered in a resource efficient manner at minimum cost, in accordance with quality assurance process.

Participating in the use, development and improvement of PTT business processes.

Reporting the progress and outcomes of projects in a timely, effective and appropriate manner ensuring that the needs of the project are met with all outputs delivered.

To use and develop analytical techniques, both laboratory and field based, to deliver outputs, enhance PTT capability and comply with QA procedures.

Day to day duties:

Collection of sampled at 2-3 WWTW works

Leave home with bottles/labels and directions and then travel to the water treatment plants to collect samples

2-4 hours driving per day

Dropping sample off at Lab or collection points

Commissioning work - making sure everything is running as designed by taking samples to show the process is working correctly and If not report accordingly.

Requirements

The ability to work in an outdoor environment

A full driving licence is essential.

Capability use high quality numerical, verbal and analytical skills across a range of activities to deliver project outputs and fully satisfy customer requirements.

A good knowledge of treatment processes, analytical methods, statistical techniques and best practice is required with practical experience being an advantage.
