Section Manager: Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy

We are seeking a Section Manager for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy to join our School of Hair, Beauty, Hospitality, Early Years and Performance. The successful candidate will be a qualified Hairdresser with qualifications up to Level 3 in women's hairdressing and will be responsible for managing both the Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Sections, as well as teaching up to 16 hours per week during term time.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Sections, ensuring high standards of education and student satisfaction.
- Deliver up to 16 hours of teaching in women's hairdressing at Level 3.
- Manage full-time and part-time study programmes in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy.
- Ensure all programmes meet the required educational standards and compliance.
- Provide guidance and support to students, facilitating their academic and professional growth.
- Coordinate Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeship Standards in Hairdressing, incorporating Functional Skills and Tutorial sessions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Hairdressing.
- A Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g. DET or equivalent).
- Assessor award (A1 or equivalent).
- Verifier award or willingness to obtain (V1 or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3 years successful teaching experience in Hairdressing.
- Minimum of 5 years' Hairdressing industry experience.
- Curriculum management/co-ordination experience.
- Understanding of quality assurance, curriculum and funding issues.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with local employers, ensuring an employer-focused curriculum.
- Up-to-date knowledge of the relevant subject area.
- Experience of leading/supervising a team.
- Knowledge of City and Guilds.
