Section Manager: Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy

We are seeking a Section Manager for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy to join our School of Hair, Beauty, Hospitality, Early Years and Performance. The successful candidate will be a qualified Hairdresser with qualifications up to Level 3 in women's hairdressing and will be responsible for managing both the Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Sections, as well as teaching up to 16 hours per week during term time.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Sections, ensuring high standards of education and student satisfaction.
  • Deliver up to 16 hours of teaching in women's hairdressing at Level 3.
  • Manage full-time and part-time study programmes in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy.
  • Ensure all programmes meet the required educational standards and compliance.
  • Provide guidance and support to students, facilitating their academic and professional growth.
  • Coordinate Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeship Standards in Hairdressing, incorporating Functional Skills and Tutorial sessions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Hairdressing.
  • A Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g. DET or equivalent).
  • Assessor award (A1 or equivalent).
  • Verifier award or willingness to obtain (V1 or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 3 years successful teaching experience in Hairdressing.
  • Minimum of 5 years' Hairdressing industry experience.
  • Curriculum management/co-ordination experience.
  • Understanding of quality assurance, curriculum and funding issues.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with local employers, ensuring an employer-focused curriculum.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the relevant subject area.
  • Experience of leading/supervising a team.
  • Knowledge of City and Guilds.
