It is an exciting time to be joining Dynex as we are in a significant period of growth with exciting projects ahead of us, which you can be part of. We are looking for a Power Electronics Design Engineer to join our growing Power Assemblies team in Lincoln.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As part of the Power Assemblies team, reporting to Engineering Manager, this role will include but not limited to the following:

  • Designing of a range of power conversion systems, to include: Controlled rectifiers, Var compensation, Voltage source converters, High energy pulsed power switches, IGBT based Invertors and Convertors (DC/DC converters, three phase inverter, Active Front End, switching mode power supplies, Flyback, Forward, H bridge, etc).
  • Support new customer enquiries, performing all aspects of engineering review, simulation and design (including drawings/schematics) to present designs to the customer in order to win business.
  • Working as part of the power assemblies design team to produce robust optimised designs against customer specifications
  • Entering into dialogue with customers regarding technical details of drawings and specifications, providing support during the complete process.
  • Devise power semiconductor systems solutions from first principles.
  • Assist with and ultimately work independently on the design of a range of power conversion systems.

ABOUT YOU

To be considered for this role, we are looking for an individual with the following knowledge & experience:

  • Academically qualified, BA (hons) or above in related fields such as physics, power electronics, mechanical engineering, electrical / electronic engineering.
  • In depth experience in the design of Power Electronic Systems.
  • Physical/material science with experience in an applicable engineering or research role.
  • Experience of working in the power semiconductor industry or a related industry sector (minimum of 5 years).
  • Proven track record in FACTS, IGBT inverters, Motor drives, soft starts, HVDC etc.
  • Experience in working with Power Electronic systems >50kW and voltages up to 33kV (SVC, HVDC, VSC, STATCOM, Pulsed Power Systems).
  • Ability to present data in a meaningful way to gain understanding by a diverse audience.
  • Able to interface with customers and suppliers directly.
  • Experience in PLECS, Matlab, Pspice, KiCAD software
