Buying Assistant

We are working as the internal recruitment partner with a well-established company based in Peterborough and are presenting an exciting opportunity for a Buying Assistant to join the team on a 6 month FTC.

This is a great role for someone looking to develop a career in Buying/Purchasing in a niche market.

The ideal Buying Assistant will come with some experience in stock/inventory management working in a demanding fast paced organisation.

This position will see you working closely with Senior Leaders in the business who will teach you the tips and tricks of the trade whilst you provide invaluable stock movement, and administrative support.

As you learn and develop in the role you will be given more and more responsibility, eventually empowering you to become an expert in the field.

An exciting and enjoyable role that is not for the faint hearted, as you will be required to think quickly on your feet and make sound recommendations resulting in a real impact on the business.

Requirements

  • Previous experience within Purchasing/Buying is desirable
  • Demonstrable ability to negotiate and liaise effectively with suppliers
  • Confident and personable character with the ability to get on with all stakeholders
  • Previous experience within stock / inventory planning is desirable
  • Ability to learn quickly but also be proactive in obtaining the information and training
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast paced, high pressured environment
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to nurture long term business relationships
  • Strong administrative and data management skills
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
  • Highly proficient on MS Office Suite especially Excel
  • Highly numerate
  • Self-motivated and resilient
  • Friendly and professional approach
  • Excellent team player

Benefits

  • A competitive salary of £28,000 per annum
  • 28 days holiday per annum, including bank holidays
  • Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:30pm with an hours' lunch break
