Energy Manager

Arora is a large, privately owned group of companies with a portfolio of owner operated hotels, multi-let office investments and developmensites. The group is responsible for a combined turnover of over £270m and assets valued above £1 billion. Due to the continual growth of the business an exciting opportunity has arisen for a newly qualified tax professional to join the company's central finance and tax team.

We are looking for experienced Energy Manager. The role will be responsible for developing the strategy to grow a commercial finance loan book of Energy, Renewable and ESG assets.

This role is fully office based role at Arora Group Head Office at Heathorw Airport area.

The ideal candidates will possess the breadth of competency, dynamism and adaptability to operate within a fast paced, demanding commercial environment. The successful Energy Manager owns the commercialisation strategy to ensure the sector activities are in line with the Company's long-term objectives and ensure business sustainability. The successful candidate will be solution focused and be able to communicate effectively at all levels and with external suppliers and customers.

The primary objective of this role is to reduce Energy and Water consumption and Carbon Emissions of company. To define, implement and deliver an effective energy and water usage monitoring and reduction plan, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.

Duties & Responsiblities

  • Evolution Building Energy Management systems are optimised to ensure the portfolio is operating as efficiently as possible whilst balancing the guests and visitors needs.
  • Ensuring the Energy and utility systems are continually developed and updated to reflect the needs of the associated managed assets.
  • Working with the Hotel and Property teams to implement best practice and new technologies to conserve and optimise energy within the associated asset. As well as to actively manage and promote environmental and sustainability initiatives ensuring best practice is achieved.
  • Develop "whole life/ life cycle" costing initiatives around capital cost/planned energy regimes.
  • To lead the awareness of environmental issues and play a leading role in energy conservation programmes, assisting the company in its achievement of relevant ISO standards and ensuring the consumption of raw utility and emissions are minimised
  • Manage the external supply chain on all procurement matters including new developments, refurbishment, and enhancement activities.
  • Proactively audit internal systems to ensure consistent delivery of Key Performance Indicators associated with the energy and raw utility consumption.
  • To prioritize all jobs and complete according to internal or statutory standards and within the appropriate timeframe.
  • Build, encourage and execute the Energy & Sustainability strategy for the Company.
  • Manage the development of the utility metering and monitoring system and ensure its effectiveness in relation to targeting and reducing energy consumption and in the promotion of stakeholder awareness of energy and water usage.
  • Stays ahead of the current developments in the area of ESG Agenda, proposes appropriate initiatives.
  • Take the lead on the development of Net Zero Carbon Roadmaps and carbon reduction initiatives.

Skills & Experience

  • Able to set and monitor SLA and KPI targets for contract sites and then manage service delivery against them.
  • The ability to identify maintenance requirements for contract hotels and deliver high quality solutions.
  • Energy project management experience
  • Excellent attention to detail with the capacity to take on numerous projects across a multi site portfolio.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, a confident communicator at senior management level.
  • Analytical and investigative when required but focused on the larger picture and the delivery required.
  • Excellent awareness of all statutory regulations pertaining to the built environment.
  • Previous experience of selecting suppliers and contractors with the necessary project management skills to ensure delivery/success.
  • Strong and extensive experience of successfully bidding , managing and reviewing energy and sustainability assessments for the built environment.
  • Professional experience in carrying out Energy calculations and Energy Reports for planning purposes.
  • Chartered status through relevant professional body
  • Familiarity with cloud technology, SAAS and PAAS business models.
