FTE: 1 FTEContract type: Permanent Year groups: KS3 - KS4 Exam groups: GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition Start date: September 2024
A lovely client school in Downend is looking for a full time, permanent teacher of Food Preparation and Nutrition to join from September 2024. I am welcoming and encouraging those who are ECTs or early in their career, as well as those with more experience to contact me about this opportunity.

About the role
You will join a team of enthusiastic and specialist staff within the technology department, who are driven by a keen desire for our students to reach and exceed expectations. The school provides a stimulating and dynamic curriculum that encourages learners to be creative, inquisitive and promotes independence. Practical activities are at the core of this department.
Teachers of Food work collaboratively to plan and deliver Food Preparation and Nutrition to GCSE, which is a well established, popular and exceedingly successful course.
The teaching of Food and Nutrition sits within the Technology Department, therefore the ability to deliver textiles and/or another Design and Technology specialism is desirable but not essential.
Design and Technology is excellently resourced and housed in a purpose-built department consisting of two fully equipped food rooms, as well as specialist textiles, electronics, engineering, and product design workshops. These are maintained by two full-time technicians.

About you
Do you have a passion for Food and Nutrition and have the ability to teach Food Preparation and Nutrition to GCSE?
Do you have detailed working knowledge of your subject area, and the skill to translate this into engaging and impactful lessons?
Are you flexible in your approach, and ready to teach a specialism at KS3?
You will ensure equality of opportunity to enable all learners.
You will also be personable, approachable, and a positive role model for all learners.

About the school The school I am working with has been recognised by Ofsted as a "rapidly improving, community focused, ambitious school." They has an ethos of encouraging students to love learning, embrace challenge, give and earn respect and grow the community. The school is a local secondary school firmly rooted in, and proudly working within the community which it serves.
It also pledges:

  • Commitment to CPD and development of all staff
  • Commitment to inclusivity and fostering of diversity
  • Values and vision that are lived not laminated
  • Open and honest culture
  • Up to 30% discount with Microsoft & Dell
  • Discounted gym membership
  • Life Assurance - 3 x Death in Service
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Dedicated counselling service

If this sounds like the right new challenge for you come September, or you would like to discuss this role in more detail, give me a call or drop me an email. I'd love to hear from you.
