We have an exciting opportunity at Brockenhurst College for a motivated and highly organised individual to join the team from September 2024 as an Industry Placement Officer on a full time, term time only, permanent basis. In return,you will receive a competitive rate of £27,882 Pro Rata.

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

About the role:

As the Industry Placement Officer , you will co-ordinate industry placements for early childhood and health studies students in the first instance with the potential in the future to support and plan for placements within other vocational subject areas as required. As well as co-ordination, planning and employer engagement the role also involves student visits to industry placements, which span geographical areas such as Hythe and Waterside, Lymington, Poole, Brockenhurst and Ringwood.

Responsibilities as our Industry Placement Officer will include:

  • Overtime deal with employers in industry across a range of subjects, including the mandatory placement as priority for early years and health effectively, including direct action or appropriate referrals, replying to requests for industry placement information.
  • Provide high quality advice and guidance to assist students, staff and industry employers, whether by telephone or in person, be solutioned focussed.
  • Ensure that all students participating in work experience have completed all the relevant paperwork and are prepared for their placements before commencement.
  • Ensure all Risk Assessments and other necessary checks are in place before students commence any work experience or volunteering opportunity with employers.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all work placements, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with and assist those involved with course delivery. E.g. staff, tutors, students, industry employers and organisations, to ensure that placements run smoothly and to a high standard
  • Work with the HoC and team to ensure placements are set up correctly, promoted effectively and are viable for the students across a range of vocational areas to include T Levels Education and Early Years
  • Students are placed in a timely way to meet deadlines and mandatory qualification requirements.

As our Industry Placement Officer , you'll ideally have:

  • GCSE Grade 4 or equivalent in English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • BA HONS Degree in sector related subject
  • Competent computer skills – able to use Word, Excel, Presentation, Outlook and the Internet for information retrieval.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent advice and guidance.
  • Motivated to supporting young people to be successful in industry
