Their Purpose - As a subsidiary of a global renewables company, they are a key player in the utility-scale battery energy storage market in the UK. They are dedicated to driving the deployment of battery energy storage systems (BESS) through an integrated solution, contributing to the widespread adoption of renewable energy.

Location & Flexibility - Remote/Hybrid with occasional visit to site when needed.

Salary & Benefits - Up to £85k + 20% bonus, Up to £2,500 a year medical insurance allowance, 25 days + bank holidays, Vehicle, pension matched up to 8%

About the Job:

As the High Voltage Technical Manager, you will manage high-voltage systems across BESS project sites, ensuring safe operations, switching, and compliance. This key role requires a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) certified up to 33kV, who will work closely with the Services team, manage contractors, and oversee the safe operation of high-voltage systems.

  • You'll be responsible for leading HV switching operations up to 33kV, including isolation, earthing, and safe switching processes as well as overseeing operational BESS sites to ensure optimal performance of high-voltage systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Electrical Safety Rules, CDM Regulations, and other relevant UK standards as well as issue permits and safety documentation for high-voltage activities.
  • Conducting risk assessments and preparing method statements for HV tasks.
  • Providing leadership to onsite electrical teams and managing contractors.
  • Collaborating with clients, contractors, and service teams to align on project objectives.
  • Monitoring HV systems' performance, identifying, and addressing any issues.
  • Implementing maintenance and operational procedures across operational sites.

About You:

  • Senior Authorised Person (SAP) certified up to 33kV.
  • Degree on HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
  • Extensive experience with high-voltage systems, ideally in BESS or utility-scale energy infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of UK electrical safety regulations, including the Grid Code as well as familiarity with SCADA systems and remote monitoring of BESS operations.
  • Relevant health and safety qualifications (e.g., SMSTS/NEBOSH/IOSH).
