Finance Officer

We are seeking a dedicated Finance Officer to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the reconciliation and journal preparation of daily income, maintaining balance sheet accounts, and ensuring accurate financial records. This role requires a strong understanding of UK GAAP, excellent book-keeping skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Day to Day of the role:
- Reconcile daily income and maintain up-to-date ledger entries for the organisation and its trading subsidiary.
- Produce reconciliation schedules for balance sheet accounts in a timely manner for period-end close.
- Track and maintain accurate records of donations across bank, ledger, and CRM systems.
- Perform weekly bank account reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Manage overdue sales invoices and support the preparation of quarterly VAT returns.
- Assist with the production of P11Ds and the annual Payroll Settlement Agreement (PSA) return to HMRC.
- Ensure direct debit payments are appropriately reviewed, authorised, and posted.
- Review corporate credit card statements, reconcile receipts, and ensure timely transaction postings.
- Undertake additional tasks or projects as delegated, in line with the role's responsibilities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- AAT level 3 or equivalent professional accountancy qualification pathway.
- Knowledge of UK GAAP and a good working knowledge of book-keeping, general ledgers, and VAT
- Excellent presentation skills and the ability to explain complex transactions clearly.
- Effective interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Proven experience in complex reconciliations and accounting basics.
- Experience working with various systems and tools for reconciliations.
