BOM Engineer

Summary:

We are looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented BOM Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Bill of Materials (BOM) for our products, ensuring accuracy and completeness. This role requires a deep understanding of engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and supply chain management. The BOM Engineer will work closely with design engineers, production teams, and suppliers to ensure that all components and materials are correctly specified and available for production.

Duties:

  • Create and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) for all products.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to ensure BOMs reflect current designs.
  • Conduct regular BOM audits to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Work with production teams to ensure materials are available for manufacturing.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to source and verify components.
  • Update BOMs to reflect changes in design, materials, or suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Analyze BOM data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Provide technical support to production and procurement teams.
  • Develop and implement BOM management processes and best practices.
  • Maintain documentation and records related to BOMs.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings to discuss project status and issues.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers on BOM management.
  • Assist in the development of new products by providing BOM-related insights.
  • Ensure BOM accuracy in ERP systems.
  • Support engineering change orders (ECO) and manage BOM revisions.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure component quality.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on BOM status and metrics.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to BOM management.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in BOM management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in BOM management or related role.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in BOM management software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Familiarity with supply chain management principles.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to train and mentor junior staff.
  • Willingness to stay updated on industry trends and advancements.

Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm
  • Friday 8am to 2pm
