Management Accountant

My clients are recruiting for an experienced Management Accountant to join their friendly team in Attleborough ( Norfolk )

Role Summary:
This role is an exciting opportunity for someone who has finished their AAT qualification and has accumulated post qualified experience in a similar role. The role will be varied with exposure to
many areas in finance including management reporting, payroll, performance measurement and liaising with multiple stakeholders around the business including some areas of statutory reporting
and compliance, all within a growing business structure. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Finance to ensure the finance department runs smoothly and will be able to
deputise for the Head of Finance in specific circumstances.

Personal background and Experience:
The successful candidate will be appropriately qualified having completed their AAT studies or a similar level qualified status. They will be able to demonstrate accumulated knowledge and apply
this to the role effectively. They will be able to work quickly and efficiently in a deadline driven environment whilst handling change within a growing business. Preparation of monthly
management accounts, monthly payroll and working to deadlines are essential experience to be able to succeed in this role. An ability to communicate effectively across departments to other team
members and importantly to non-finance members of the team too regarding financial information is critical with many in the business do not have finance backgrounds. The successful candidate will
be comfortable with supervising and assisting other members of the finance team thus accessing and using varying levels of knowledge and communicating with ease.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial and Accounts
 Prepare the monthly management accounts to EBITDA level for approval by the Head of finance
 Prepare monthly accounts for various satellite micro entities
 Maintain lead schedules for monthly prepayments and accruals and the various month end
ledgers
 Assist the Head of finance with preparation of annual budget and forecasting tasks
 Prepare the monthly payroll for approval by Head of finance and the director team
 Assist Head of finance with weekly cash flow analysis and reporting
 Alongside Head of finance liaise with external accountants and auditors on routine year end queries
 Alongside Head of finance, liaise with the year-end statutory auditors in relation to year end queries and
assist the Head of finance with audit issues
 Review and monitor the company VAT account and partial exemption status ready for
approval and submission of the quarterly VAT return by the Head of finance
 Assisting with company compliance processes
 Monitor inventory levels and report to the Head of finance and Head of Sales on slow moving stock and
the company stock profile
 Work with Head of finance and Head of Sales to ensure reporting around monthly gross margins is
accurately reported
 Prepare weekly KPI information
 Be a driver alongside the Head of finance for the development of the company's operational reporting
and KPI development in line with strategic goals
 Responsibility for the purchase ledger function to assist the purchase ledger clerk with
routine queries and report to the Head of finance on monthly accounts payables
 Oversee the monthly receivables report and communicate outstanding receivables with staff
 Prepare the monthly bonus and commission reports for approval by Head of finance
 Post and monitor intercompany transactions and track costs across multiple entities
 Oversee Purchase Ledger with maintaining the various company sub-ledgers
 Oversee bank reconciliation and assist with general posting queries
 Monitor and record income from various regional optical bodies including NHS and local
clinics
 Assist Head of finance with preparation of presentational aspects of finance and help to analyse results
ready for communication to operational teams
Team
 Work collaboratively with team members and management colleagues in order to meet the
objectives of the business;
 Implement the policies and procedures set out in the Employment Handbook;
 Contribute to positive working relationships within the team;
 Be mindful of the needs of other team members and to show them courtesy;
 Communicate effectively with others in the team and be polite at all times;
 Put forward ideas and feedback during team meetings in order to improve ways of working.
Health & Safety / Environmental Health
 Implement the legal obligation to maintain a safe working environment at all times;
 Follow the company's procedures, as described in the Health & Safety Policy;
 Report anything unsafe to the Head of Finance, and report accidents in the accident
handbook;
Other Tasks
 Undertake any other tasks that may be reasonably requested
 Ensure adequate notes of conversations and meetings are recorded to assist with the proper
function of the role
 Observe and report on deficiencies in key internal controls
