Trade Finance Project Analyst

Location: Central London (Hybrid, 3 days per week)
Contract: Full-time until March 2025
Salary: £290 per day (including holiday allowance, 33 days)
Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking an experienced Trade Finance Project Analyst to support our business operations with specialised knowledge in trade finance transactions. This role is integral in delivering technical expertise and ensuring seamless project execution in collaboration with Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Trade Finance SMEs.

In this role, you will leverage your comprehensive understanding of trade finance operations and ensure accuracy by adhering to both internal and head office procedures, key controls, and governing regulations. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach are crucial as you manage various projects and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse transactions across supported entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Understand and meet internal reporting requirements.
  • Mitigate risks through KRI reporting, operational error resolution, and compliance screening.
  • Continuously expand knowledge of trade finance mechanics, procedures, and system functionalities.
  • Utilise systems and processing tools effectively to maintain high operational standards.
  • Adhere to head office and internal procedures to deliver precise results and uphold the bank's professional image.
  • Support strategic initiatives, planning, and project work.
  • Develop workflow processes and create detailed procedural documentation.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of trade finance products, including Import and Export LCs, Guarantees, Collections, Discounting, Forfaiting, Confirmations, and Risk Participations.
  • Strong familiarity with UCP 600, ISP98, URDG 758, URC 522, and other ICC guidelines.
  • Awareness of Money Laundering regulations and the UK Proceeds of Crime Act.
  • Understanding of UK and OFAC sanction policies and experience with Restricted Counterparty Checks.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic knowledge of SWIFT Alliance (MT202, MT103, MT4 series, MT7 series).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly at all levels.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills in response to unexpected challenges.
