Area Manager Approved Premises and Criminal Justice

Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary Area Manager Approved Premises and Criminal Justice to work in Lambeth. This is a full-time role paying £32.35 per hour.

The role:

This is a Maternity Cover for 7 months to start in September 2024 but could be extended based on individual circumstances. Hestia are looking for an Area Manager to cover their Approved Premises sites in Streatham, Highbury and Battersea.

The role requires being on call out of office hours for 2 days out of 8, Working hours are Mon - Fri. core office hours, total 39hrs per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the delivery of contractual and operational requirements of Hestia's Independent Approved Premises, in line with the Ministry of Justice contract as well as operational policies, procedures and practice
  • Work within Hestia's policies and procedures whilst ensuring adherence to requirements from the Ministry of Justice, Her Majesty's Prison and Probation Service and/or the National Probation Service, and ensure cohesiveness between the policies of all stakeholder organisations
  • Supported by the Head of Offender Services, respond effectively to operational and other risks presented by an actual or potential incident
  • To ensure that AP staff manage all risk appropriately and effectively, utilising best practice and meeting all public protection standards and targets contributing to public protection through multi agency arrangements and individual case work review, discussion and feedback
  • To carry out safeguarding children and safeguarding adults duties in accordance with all statutory responsibilities and agency policies
  • Provide advice and make defensible decisions on the management of high risk offenders, ensuring appropriate placements are available within Hestia APs, and managing referrals across the estate with an awareness of public protection and the reputational risks for Hestia and other partner agencies
  • Deliver, monitor and report performance and quality outcomes in line with the requirements of the MoJ, HMPPS, NPS and Hestia

Applicant Requirements:

  • The right candidate must be Probation trained and have strong experience in leading and managing a Team of Probation officers. A diploma in Probation Studies or diploma in Social Work would also be desirable.
  • Experience of working with offenders in a residential setting, with particular emphasis on supervision, monitoring, encouraging compliance and enforcing sanctions where necessary
  • Experience of working with service users with current and historic involvement with the Criminal Justice System
  • Knowledge and understanding of the key facets of rehabilitation and public protection
  • An understanding of the emotional and behavioural impact of trauma and the ability to work with people who may be display a range of emotions, behaviours and communication challenges
