Job Title: Methods Engineer

Department: Continuous Improvement

Location: Burton Upon Trent

Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000

Overview: We are looking for an engineer to join our team and support our continuous improvement efforts.

Job Purpose: The Methods Engineer will work to enhance manufacturing processes and ensure effective production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a positive safety culture and comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team on new product introductions.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing practices and safe work methods.
  • Lead improvement projects and present findings.
  • Evaluate drawings, models, and designs for production.
  • Resolve production issues to ensure proper flow.
  • Design tools, fixtures, and test rigs.
  • Explore new technologies to enhance capacity and quality.
  • Update work instructions and documentation.
  • Analyze and improve standard times.
  • Design efficient workplace and cell layouts.
  • Support lean activities and warranty investigations.
  • Ensure equipment meets specifications and tolerances.
  • Maintain FMEAs and control plans.
  • Facilitate training on equipment.

Person Specification:

Background & Experience:

  • Experience in lean environments.
  • Comfortable working on the shop floor.
  • Familiarity with regulated industries.

Qualifications:

  • HNC engineering qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of mathematics, lean principles, and Six Sigma.
  • CAD qualification is a plus.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Independent worker with effective time management.
  • Attention to detail and good presentation skills.
  • Cost awareness and influencing skills.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work in a dynamic industrial environment.
