Our client are a global food manufacturer known for producing high-quality products available at major retailers across the UK who are looking for a Technical Manager. Based around Great Oakley area of Essex, this role reports to the Group Head of Technical and is responsible for upholding the company's high standards in product quality, processing systems, and factory practices.

Description

Key Responsibilities of the Technical Manager:

  • Act as deputy to the Group Head of Technical.
  • Lead and advise site teams on food safety, quality, and environmental hygiene.
  • Drive continuous improvement in technical operations and food safety culture.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to quality management systems and process controls.
  • Work towards KPIs related to consumer complaints, audit performance, pest control, and hygiene compliance.
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and authorities on technical matters.
  • Write and verify product specifications.

Profile

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in team management and UK Manufacturing
  • Ideally ambient experience eg; dry products (flour, lentils)
  • Has led BRC audits
  • Implemented food safety culture
  • Must have Retail experience and can work cross functionally
  • Strong technical knowledge with the ability to provide support and guidance.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in the food industry or similar environment is a plus.
  • HACCP Level 3 or 4, TACCP/VACCP Level 2, and Lead Auditor training required.
  • Solid understanding of BRC standards.
