Area Manager

About The Role
The Area Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operational and strategic aspects in accordance with the Service Contract for several cleaning contracts around their designated area

Implementing and maintaining the Company's policies and procedures within the scope of responsibility

Assist with new contract mobilizations.

You will be working Monday to Friday, 06:00 to 18:00, 40 hours per week, on a permanent, full-time basis.

Key tasks & responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all services operate to the specification of the Service Level Agreement, as a minimum.
  • Understand and comply with all regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Provide support to team leaders and supervisors.
  • Visit various sites within the area to liaise with clients and cleaning teams.
  • Pro-actively seek new ways in which to provide efficiencies both in terms of cost and service provided.
  • Conduct routine checks and inspections of cleaning standards.
  • Order relevant cleaning materials and consumables.
  • Conduct onsite task training and 'toolbox' talks.
  • Arrange staff cover for holidays and absences.
  • Plan periodic cleaning tasks and activities.
  • Attend monthly site meetings with Clients.
  • Provide a detailed monthly report.
  • Be available throughout the day via a provided mobile phone, in order to provide assistance to various teams.
  • Manage and distribute all operator worksheets on a two-weekly basis.

Quality Standards:

  • Ensure all Company and Client specific policies and procedures are adhered to.

Health & Safety:

  • Health & Safety Policies must be up to date, ensuring compliance with all legislation and best practice
  • Ensure that the Company's interests are maintained at all times.
  • Ensure that full investigations are carried out, when necessary (e.g. RIDDOR reportable incidents), notifying Operations Manager as soon as reasonably practicable.
  • Ensure that risk assessments are carried out and continually reviewed and recommendations implemented.

Staff Management:

  • Provide support for the various team leaders on a daily basis.
  • Should it be given; appropriately act under the guidance of HR advice.
  • Manage and administer risk assessments, Health and Safety, changes in procedure and other best working practices documents for all Site Staff.

Communication:

  • Maintain effective communication with team leaders, clients and line manager.

  • To be flexible in your working approach, hours may vary from day to day.
  • Laptop, mobile phone and car allowance (car must be less than 10 years old and insured for business use).

Qualifications, skills & experience:

  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (communication, presentation, persuasion and motivation) and emotionally resilient
  • Strong team player and leader
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Lateral thinker (innovation)
  • Experience of managing outsourced commercial contract cleaning, ideally in an education environment
  • Computer literate - Microsoft packages including Excel, Power BI and the use of people management software
  • IOSH (Desired)
  • IWFM Membership (Desired)
  • Multi-Site management experience (Desired)
  • Fully enhanced DBS check required.
