The Role:

The post of IT Desktop Support Team Leaderis fundamental to the delivery of an IT desktop experience which meets the need of all of our users. You will lead and develop our desktop technicians and lead the way in supporting and developing our desktop automation including workstation management, application deployment, remote support and robust endpoint security.

You will provide and champion skilled desktop support to College students and staff both in-person and through service points in order that we resolve requests at the first point of . Additionally, you will work closely with Senior MITS Managers and Network Managers to ensure the smooth operation of College IT systems, including Microsoft and Azure AD infrastructures, Microsoft and Apple desktop automation systems, our Office 365 tenancy, network and VOIP topologies and Audio-Visual services.

Your responsibilities as our IT Desktop Support Team Leader will include:

  • Managing and supporting desktop systems, including:

  • Active Directory, group policy, and deployment tools.

  • The delivery and support of a diverse range of applications used by students and staff.

  • Ensuring all systems and development activities are documented.

  • Safeguarding against Cyber threats through ensuring the latest patches and updates are applied. .

  • Uphold safeguarding and online safety standards to protect students and staff from harmful content.

  • Offer and champion skilled and ongoing support to students and staff using the college IT systems.

  • Promote the use of college-approved IT systems and communication tools.

  • Collaborate with staff to understand and respond to their evolving IT needs, ensuring their ability to deliver exceptional teaching experiences.

  • Manage and mentor Desktop and Service Desk staff to ensure:

  • Continued excellence in the support we provide to our users

  • That the desktop support team are developed to enhance their technical and support capabilities.

  • Individuals are well prepared fr the next stage in their career.

As our IT Desktop Support Team Leader, you'll ideally have:

  • Demonstrable passion for IT and IT Systems.
  • Prior experience working within an IT support environment, resolving user requests, and providing technical assistance.
  • Strong understanding of PC hardware components and experience in troubleshooting and maintaining desktop systems.
  • Experience of motivating and leading a team of IT Support Staff.
  • Experience in administering User and Desktop environments including:
  • Active Directory user and group administration.
  • Group Policy configuration.
  • SCCM and inTune application delivery and packaging
  • Proficient in supporting various Windows operating systems and a wide range of software applications. :
  • Proven knowledge of communications technology and physical network Infrastructure.
  • Minimum of Level 4 National Qualification in IT or a Computing related subject OR Level 3 National Qualification in IT or a Computing related subject AND a commitment to achieve a Level 4 qualification within 2 years.
