Our client, a large government customer, are seeking an SDA Deputy Chief Engineer to join their team.
With AUKUS (AUS, UK, US) leadership announcement in March 2023, it was established that the SSN-AUKUS (SSNA) will be based upon the United Kingdom's next-generation SSN design. The Australian Submarine Agency (ASA) will act as the design Authority, responsible for approval of design and manufacture and maintaining the design intent, integrity, and safety of the naval reactor plant.
The SDA SSNA Deputy Chief Engineer (DCE) will assist in the formation of Australia stepping up its design approval capabilities. As part of this a team consisting of one L5 and two L3 engineers has been set up to assist both the ASA and SSNA in the integration of the Technical Liaison Officers within the design phase of the project.
Main Responsibilities
- Resolution of ASA concerns.
- Comparison and assessment of Australian/UK standards, legislation and safety policy.
- Assistance on the delivery of the ASA programme.
- Advising ASA on UK engineering processes.
- Facilitate the exchange of information between the SSNA (inc industrial partners) and the ASA.
- Management on the SSNA engineering sharepoint.
Key Skills and Experience
- Good interpersonal skills, and able to confidently talk to international partners in Australia and USA.
- Experience in nuclear submarine acquisition programmes.
